Materials
SUS 304
SUS304 is an austenitic stainless steel of the 18-8 series that is commonly used as a stamping washer-type fastener. As its stamping in each part of the material deformation degree varies, about 15% to 40%, so the degree of processing hardening of the material also varies.
Surface Treatment
Chrome plating is the act of plating chromium as a coating onto other metals.
Chrome is a silvery-white metal with a slight blue tint. Chrome metal is extremely passivated in air, forming an extremely thin passivation film on the surface, thus showing the properties of a precious metal.
The chromium plating layer has a high hardness, which can vary in a wide range of 400 to 1200 HV depending on the composition of the plating solution and process conditions. The chromium plating layer has good heat resistance, and its glossiness and hardness do not change significantly when heated below 500°C. The temperature is greater than 500°C and starts to oxidize and discolor, and the hardness starts to decrease when greater than 700°C. The friction coefficient of chrome plating layer is small, especially the dry friction coefficient, which is the lowest among all the metals. So the chromium-plated layer has good wear resistance.
